Benches empty after Phillips gets hit by Watson

While Phillips had to be restrained by home-plate umpire D.J. Reyburn, Marlon Byrd led a charge out of the Reds' first-base dugout that was quickly met by a similar wave of Pirates from the third-base side.

As both bullpens also emptied to join the scrum in the middle of the infield, the Reds' Joey Votto, Todd Frazier and Byrd and the Pirates' Sean Rodriguez, Joe Blanton and Francisco Cervelli were the most heated participants.

At one point, the umpiring crew had almost successfully shepherded everyone back to their places.
